Another trotter from Taupaki

While we had Poppy in the paddock at Geoff's over New Year we met another of his trotters, Q, aka. Cheque Me Out.
It turns out Q has a few issues regarding working on his own, and is a born follower, which is never really a desirable quality in a racehorse, so they felt he'd do better looking for employment as a riding horse.
Now I'm certain that he will need to find himself a job as a hack at some stage, as the alternative opportunities for sacked or retired SB geldings are not terribly pleasant, or at least not for anyone other than the dog that ends up consuming them, but I'm not positive that he need look too hard for that employment just yet.
I am always loathe to make decisions like this with a horse this young, so we will continue with his cart education and fitness but also start on some education for saddle as well, and see how things go.

He was shipped to Bulls on Saturday, and I picked him up there that afternoon. He has settled well, is very friendly, and is rather chatty.
I'll take him out on the lead for a short jog tomorrow and we'll see where things go from there.
